- Context: On July 27, the White House announced a trade deal with the European Union (EU) and the imposition of a blanket 15% tariff on goods imported from countries in the EU. Additionally, changes to the Aluminum and Steel tariffs that went into effect on June 4 doubled the tariff rate from 25% to 50% and eliminated a prior exclusion from "Reciprocal Tariffs" that applied to steel and aluminum products. As a result, tariffs on such products increased still further. B—W had absorbed the cost of these earlier changes up until this time. Finally, postponement of the so-called "Liberation Day" reciprocal tariffs, expired at 12:01am August 1 (except for products originating in China (PRC), for which the postponement ends August 11), and on July 31 the White House announced new reciprocal tariff rates for most countries, to be effective August 7, 2025.
