Pivot doors can make a strong architectural and visual impact, but ideally the hardware does not. Simonswerk’s new VERTO VT 107 gives architects and designers a nearly concealed pivot option developed specifically for wood doors, keeping the focus on the door itself and opening a wide breadth of possibilities for residential projects.
When considering this hinge system (or any other) for a project, it’s best to check a few details early, from door dimensions and closing behavior to installation requirements. We’re excited to introduce you to a world of possibilities with this wood pivot door option from Simonswerk.
The VERTO VT 107E WD pairs a hydraulic bottom hinge with a matching top fitting to create a nearly concealed self-closing system for wood doors. This is Simonswerk’s first VERTO solution designed specifically for residential wood-door applications, expanding beyond its earlier glass-door VERTO systems. That gives architects and designers a new option when they want the clean look of a pivot door without making the hardware a visible part of the design.
The VT 107 is a strong fit for room-to-room doors and interior dividers in residences and luxury condos. Its 200,000-cycle testing reflects residential use, so review hospitality applications individually rather than assuming the hinge is suitable for every high-traffic lobby or corridor.
For an initial fit check, start with the basic parameters:
Maximum door weight: 176 pounds
Maximum door width: ~39.37 inches
Door thickness: 1.38–2.36 inches
Pivot location: At least 2.17 inches (55 mm) from the door edge, with the option to move the pivot farther toward the center
Finishes: Stainless steel and Black
While these weight and width limits are fixed, this captures a large percentage of residential interior doors.
Both single-action operation for a one-way swing or double-action operation for movement are possible. The system holds open at a full 90 degrees in either single-action or double-action operations. Automatic closing begins at approximately 80 degrees, with some variation depending on the door and conditions.
Closing speed is conveniently factory preset. The bottom pivot does not need independent adjustment for closing speed or latching speed, which will reduce the installation time in the field while providing a consistent closing speed that will not change over time. It's best to confirm the proposed latch works with the preset closing action during the planning phase, rather than working that part out in the field.
The hinge selection affects more than the hardware schedule. Go over these details with the door manufacturer and installation team before fabrication:
The bottom pivot is 30 mm wide. At the 35 mm minimum door thickness, that leaves 2.5 mm of material on each side. Pay particular attention to nominal 1⅜-inch doors, where the actual thickness may be less than expected. Have the door manufacturer review the mortise and remaining material.
Published details show nominal 10 mm gaps, approximately ⅜ inch. Check the complete geometry to confirm whether tighter reveals will work. The door manufacturer must validate any reduction.
The floor plate fixing penetrates approx. 1.18 inches (30 mm) into the floor. Check the floor assembly and fixing locations before installation, especially where radiant heating is present.
The best time to review the VT 107 is while the opening is still being detailed. Confirm the door construction, clearances, fixing conditions, and hardware early to ensure a smooth process by the time fabrication is underway.

Yes. Bridgeport can provide CAD files, a specification sheet, and product literature for coordination. Dedicated VT 107 templates are also compatible with Simonswerk’s Universal Milling Jig for model-specific door preparation.
Before specifying it for a rated opening, confirm that the complete door-and-hardware assembly has the required documentation. The hinge’s self-closing function alone does not necessarily make the opening fire-rated so it’s important to look at the door and hardware assembly holistically.
Let the door close at its set speed rather than pushing it faster. For double-action doors, allow a brief pause at the closed position before reversing direction. Reversing the door immediately can put unnecessary stress on the hinge over time.
